What is SBM Mentoring?

SBM Mentoring connects undergraduate students from the School of Business and Management with a member of our alumni community or an experienced working professional. Through these one-to-one relationships, students are supported to make better informed career choices, develop their employability skills, and gain confidence with applying for graduate job roles.

Who are we looking for?

To become a Mentor, you must have the following:

• A minimum of two years’ professional experience (exceptions can be made in some circumstances).
• Availability to support a student for 6 months on a voluntary basis (we ask mentors to meet with mentees for a minimum of 1 hour per month, this can be face-to-face, or via telephone/skype).
• A genuine interest in helping young people to improve their employment prospects.
• The ability to provide a student with first-hand insight into your current profession and industry.

Please note: if you would like to become a Mentor, you must attend an induction session via webinar.

How to get involved

We run two cohorts a year (October to April and February to July). We are currently recruiting volunteers for our next round of SBM Mentoring, which takes place October 2020 to April 2021.
