Seeking a digital transformation in health care, Markle Connecting for Health was convened to accelerate the use of health IT to improve the quality and cost effectiveness of health care. The group gave rise to the Blue Button health record download feature and developed a Common Framework for information sharing which informed the HITECH American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
In the wake of 9/11, Markle convened a bipartisan Task Force that reframed the role of intelligence in protecting the nation against terrorism while preserving traditional civil liberties. Markle's collaboration and information sharing recommendations informed the 9/11 Commission Report, the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, and the Protect America Act of 2007.
