Centre for Central Banking Studies

The Bank of England’s CCBS runs an extensive programme of events for central bankers and financial regulators from around the world.

Overview

The Bank of England’s Centre for Central Banking Studies (CCBS) runs an extensive programme of events for central bankers and financial regulators from around the world. Our mission is to encourage best practice in central bank policymaking and operations, and to build networks across the global central bank and regulatory community.

What does the CCBS do?

We have four main areas of activity:

  1. We run a substantial programme of international central banking seminars, which are attended by experts from central banks and regulators from all over the world – our speciality since 1990.
  2. We have a programme of technical co-operation and training with specific central banks in emerging Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The programme has been developed in partnership with the Department for International Development and is fully funded by the UK government.
  3. We contribute to the Central Banking Qualification, which the Bank has set up in partnership with Warwick University to train the next generation of central bankers.
  4. We contribute to the Bank of England’s research.

We run a full and varied programme of events and training courses, both in London and abroad, which reflects the diversity of the Bank’s responsibilities. Our courses encourage frank and thought-provoking discussions, and provide opportunities for people taking part to share insights and get a broader perspective on their area of expertise.

CCBS events

Our seminars, workshops and special events reflect the latest thinking and research on central bank policy and operations. Our speakers are experts in their field, drawn from the Bank of England, London financial markets, academia and the event participants themselves.

CCBS events are aimed at practitioners from central banks and regulatory authorities who can bring their expertise and experience to the table. Seminars are usually a mix of lectures, discussions and case studies to encourage sharing of experience and different approaches used around the world.

London events are held at the Bank of England.

Latest Event and Travel Guidance from CCBS (Updated 1 August 2020)

In light of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, CCBS on-site seminars and programmes are suspended for the foreseeable future.

We have published a revised programme of virtual events (webinars) which will run from August 2020 and will be supplemented with recorded presentations and reference material.

Apply to attend a free CCBS event

You can now apply to attend a CCBS webinar using our online registration form. Deadlines for applications close one week before a scheduled event. We aim to confirm your place within one working day of applying.

Please note: you will need to provide your official organisation email address when registering.

Apply to attend an event

Virtual events offer the opportunity to engage with a greater number of participants. Consequently we can accept multiple applications from each organisation. However, it remains at the event director’s discretion to select candidates they believe will be most suitable to attend. Please be aware that because of technical problems some of our webpages still note that applications are limited to one per central bank or regulatory authority. This will be rectified over the coming weeks.

You will no longer be required to complete an administration form if you have been accepted as a participant for an event.
